New Mexico Wildlife Act Provisions on Game Seasons and Possessions
The act sets open seasons for grouse, native or created, in Messina California or Helmet quail October 1 to December 3, for wild turkey November 1 to December 31, prairie chicken September 1 to November 30 since 1915, and doves August to October 31. It bans possession of antelope, pheasant, bob-white quail or wild pigeon in the Territory for five years after passage, and limits snipe curlew or plover possession to hunting September 15 through March 1. It caps take per person per day to two wild turkeys, six grouse, twenty ducks, thirty other birds, fifteen pounds of trout not under six inches, and fifteen pounds of bass not less than seven inches, with additional limits on deer horns and storage of fish after season close.
