Town Levy Made for Current Year

At the Shoshone trustees meeting informal talks covered housing the waterworks filtering plant to prevent freezing. The board plans to delay the filter until after cold weather, while authorizing the annual levy of four mills for current expenses and six mills for indebtedness. Appropriations include salaries street sprinkling lighting roads and general fund. The levy appears in ordinance No. 63.

Mr Gooding Called to Direct Part of Campaign

Idaho parties prepared for the campaign with chairmen and executives. Chairman Day Weing headed the Republicans and Chairman Pence led the Democrats. J H Gipson and Fred W Gooding were chosen for campaign roles. Gooding, Republican state representative from Lincoln County, will oversee the judicial district comprising Lincoln, Gooding, Cassia, Blaine, Minidoka and Twin Falls. He returned from Boise noting primaries show strong support for Governor Haines and a likely Republican victory in the fall election.

Two Children Rescued From Peril by Quick Acting Helpers

In North Shoshone on North Ball Street two young children were saved when A E Vredenburgh and Aaron Puller restrained frantically spooked horses pulling their owner's wagon. Fuller and Vredenburgh captured a horse each near a telegraph pole, driving through a muddy pool to avert disaster. Crandle fell into a cellar and fractured a rib while Clements broke a leg during work on a Hansen dwelling.

Burnside Visitors Receive Wendell Guests in Shoshone

Mr and Mrs Fred Chapman and Mr and Mrs Doe Price drove from Wendell to Shoshone on Monday. They planned to leave Tuesday for Alturas Lakes but rain delayed travel. On Thursday morning Mrs Chapman and Mrs Price would spend the week with Mrs Leah Burnside.

Dr Zeller attended and took him to his office for treatment. He is a well known contractor and builder employed on the Blannen home project.

Shoshone Library Grows From Local Gifts and Circles

The Shoshone library began a year ago with thirty dollars donated by Study Club ladies and now totals about eighty dollars in contributions. One hundred five books are in, with more to come as two reading circles add readers who buy books for the collection. The library also loaned one hundred volumes from the State Library at Boise and is kept in a case at the Great Shoshone and Twin Falls Power Company office. Miss Ines Wheeler oversees custody. A second circle plans to contribute further volumes. Private donations continue to enhance the library’s value to Shoshone.
