Tax Levy Made for County School Districts

The county school districts approved a tax levy at the regular County Commissioners meeting on Monday. Eight areas show decreases while districts 2 12 16 29 and 43 raise their levies. District No 16 now levies 1 90 and No 29 levies 26 cents, with 30 districts total in Lincoln county and a table detailing valuations and required amounts.

Lincoln County School Census Shows 1057 Pupils

Lincoln County reports for the 1919 20 school year show 1057 children of school age. District totals include Shoshone Itchitet and Die trich areas with rural figures noted and a mix of district numbers. Carey farmer Brown reports a 60 bushel per acre corn yield from a Minnesota Flint variety after 80 days to harvest. Postmaster E Noble leaves for a national convention in Detroit and will visit Illinois on the five week trip.

County Nurse Hired by County Commissioners

The County Commissioners approve an appropriation for a County Nurse with $309 from State University Extension and $2,800 from the county for salary and expenses. Lydia Sinclair, recommended by the Red Cross, will start December 2 and will coordinate public health efforts, provide home care guidance, and develop local health groups to prevent disease and reduce costs.

Dietrich Wheat Yields 65 Bushels Per Acre Reported

Sam Miter on the Dietrich tract secured the best wheat yield yet reported to the Journal. On a 124 acre tract the yield was 45 bushels to the acre. County Agent Moroney notes weather and brittle beds reduced potential, with storms causing grain shattering and gravity losses. On a seven acre plot Miller produced Tram shell to the acre.

Lincoln County Tax Levy Set at Record High
