Trout Raising Ventures Spark New Lincoln County Industry

Kinsey and Kinsey at the Devils Corral near Great Shoshone Falls lead a new trout farming push in Lincoln County with 2000 inches of spring water and ample lake space. They plan hatcheries, purchase 400000 Eastern Brook trout from Sultan hatchery in Washington, and expect 2 inch fry to market in a year at 40 to 60 cents per pound. A. M. Purdum near Hailey also develops a 320 acre ranch with spring brooks and 20 ponds for rainbow and steel head, aiming to establish a hatchery and sell fish as the industry grows, aided by the Hay Spur state hatchery nearby and experienced supervisor Geo. H. Isaac.

Carey Act lands near railroads rise with irrigation boom

The article describes escalating land values and water rights costs, with prices for Carey lands projected to reach 75 to 1 per acre as development continues. It highlights Idaho Irrigation Co. settlements along the Hig and Little Wood rivers, the Twin Falls South Side project as a model, and contrasts with slower Twin Falls North Side growth. It cites settlers from irrigated states, the experience of pioneers like Baldwin and McKee in potato and wheat yields, and the overall rapid real estate fortunes driven by latent resources and labor demand.
