Great Lands Sale Opens in Gooding Idaho River Town

The third irrigated land sale in southern Idaho this year drew buyers from Kansas Washington and several states. Idaho Irrigation Company sold water rights for 10000 acres on opening day as Gooding Townsite and related sales topped substantial totals. The crowd, housed in tents and served by restaurants, included natives and outsiders eyeing a bank sugar factory and other industries. About 500 land registrations were logged by Thursday night. many applicants remain to file.

Dr. Emerson Dies at Goldfield Funeral in Shoshone Church

Funeral services for Dr. Emerson were held at the Episcopal church of Shoshone conducted by Archdeacon Jennings of Nampa. He died in Goldfield Nevada on November 9 after a lingering illness at age 42. He had lived in Shoshone and other south Idaho towns and was noted as a capable physician. The services were delayed a day due to late arrival of his remains.

Crowe Bound Over In Idaho Robbery Case

A hearing before Judge Puller led to bound over to district court for trial in the state versus John Crowe. Crowe is accused of robbing Renry Haffero, a sheep man employed by Joseph Keefer, on the night of November 1. Haffero was assaulted on the street, losing a knife, gloves, and cash, then chased to the railroad where the robber fled on a train. Sheriff Jones later reported the suspect captured with about ten dollars remaining from the original fifteen.
