Lost boys survive icy trek near Shoshone
Two youths Frank McCune and Lester Lemon wandered from traps in the desert southwest of Shoshone after school Monday. Weather and darkness hampered searchers until the boys followed an engine whistle to Randall’s near five that evening. McCune’s frostbitten feet were treated, and both boys were found safe. A whistle from the No. 1 engine aided their rescue and officials praised the engineer’s kindness.
