Fred Most at Star Larkeward saw a fire destroy his blacksmith shop and tools last Sunday. G H Freen mourns the death of his youngest sister in Iowa. Tom Peterson wounded by years in Sho shone’s Zeller hospital to undergo surgery. Mr Line buys a new Ford car during war times. Twin calf epidemic justifies ranch expenditures. Mrs Towne of Tekoa Washington returns home after visiting here. Tr K Jorgensen proudly shows a new Ford. Mrs Walker of Ant North Dakota attends funeral of her mother. William Scott from Mt. Vernon visits with two young men buying land, one of them Mr Briggs already purchasing Porter price land. Henry Oldenburg moved from Berton to Belpine. now to Spirit Lake Idaho to work in a garage. Social event in Dietrich marked by a large crowd and a lively program including music, dance, and Red Cross activity ends with America sung. Lunch baskets sold for twenty five cents. A dance is planned at Bessien.
Dr Krikorian authorized by the government presents Armenian claims to a large Sunday audience. The Armenian speaker, described as impressive and patriotic, urges support for starving countrymen and echoes President Wilson on postwar self determination.
John Theodore Resch of Joseph Oregon and Viowla May Casada wed in Shoshone courthouse with Probate Judge Fuller officiating. Witnesses Mrs J C Casada and Aaron Fuller. The couple, after a brief stay, plan to Cleveland Ohio where Resch has a new position, aboard the No 18 Sunday monitor to Los Angeles.
The Mothers Circle added fifty cents to the potato sale fund bringing the total to 800 dollars. On Friday they served luncheon to out of town attendees of the State Land Board meeting. Despite short notice, about 16.50 dollars was raised from the luncheon in the room vacated by F. E. Jackson.
On Saturday evening March 23 Rupert Borden visited Shoshone. Mrs Kilker returned to Dietrich to shop for furnishings. Miss Helen Metcher enrolled in seventh grade after her parents moved from Vale Orghi. Mr and Mrs Clark and Mr and Mrs F E B Smith drove to Shoshone to hear a lecture last Sunday. Mrs L P Mustard visits Pegarl this week. Charles Grant and Adrian Nelson visited Shoshone last Monday. George English, Mrs R J Hii and daughter Alfreda were dinner guests at C P Chapmans last Sunday. C P Chapman Hr Chapman Dick Randieman and W Zimmerman were visitors last Saturday.
The Joly Entertainers, a 24 member troupe from the Industrial Home Training School, perform vaudeville musical numbers and high class acts with their own scenery and costumes. Endorsed by Governor Lister and other prominent figures, they support the Home through shows at the Baugh Theater on Thursday, April 11.
The three day Chautauqua program from the Ellison White circuit ended last Monday night with An Evening in Hawaii. The six programs pleased some more than others, yet none were mediocre. Saturday night’s show by Julius Caesar Naphe was exceptionally fine and instructive, worth the entire course. The entertainers overall presented high clean character with no hint of cheap or maudlin. The event leaves a wholesome, uplifting effect on the community.
