100 per cent record in spelling belongs to a young lady who also holds the highest general average in the county at 95 per cent. Mrs. Burnside was in Pocatello to arrange a joint normal institute at the close of the summer school. The plan calls for a week long institute starting August 26 uniting Lincoln, Twin Falls, Cassia, Bannock, Bingham, Fremont and Custer counties after the teacher certificates exam.

Irrigation at Twin Lakes slowly expands in Idaho settlement
County Surveyor John Koets reports from the Maynard settlement on Camas Prairie that the Twin Lakes canal and reservoir system will irrigate about 10 000 acres. They built a concrete core earth dam capable of holding 20 000 acre feet. The canals run parallel to the Malad river with a drainage basin covering about two townships. One canal nearly complete and the other due this fall.

About sixty members of the Shoshone Methodist congregation surprised Mr. and Mrs. A. S. McMahon at their home with a farewell reception before their move to Hailey this week.
