John Biliott of the National Guard spent the weekend nearby. Mr and Mrs Harry fillott hosted Shoshone visitors Monday. Chas Cleveland met State Lecturer Mrs Knott in town Wednesday.
A Tennessee mother offers her teen son to the Union cause. The boy, barely 13, drums bravely for the blue as he aids troops through Rolla to Springfield. Wounded by the ravine fight, he remains with his drum until a guard finds him. He later dies after tending a fallen comrade.
County clerks report a larger number of registrants than government estimates. White residents show higher turnout while the Department of Commissioners notes 730 more names than prior figures. Officials expect additional additions to the list from current registrants, with 25 to 30 acres linked to the total.
