Fire drill mocks town as two hose crews chase glory
Last Friday at about 5 30 residents rushed to the bell calls and ran to the hose carts thinking a fire burned at A H Williams residence. The teams from both tea companies joined the parade to extinguish a supposed blaze but found it to be a hoax. Early reports praise the turnout and urge regular practice. A race between the two companies followed from the McFall house to the fire plug. North side finished in 1 12 while the south side broke a reel, delaying their start. A second race is planned amid growing enthusiasm.
