Depot Situation Unchanged In Shoshone Freight Depot Debate
Last week a Short Line plan to extend the present Shoshone depot by 40 feet to aid freight handling was announced. The Commercial Club urged a new stone or brick depot, arguing the wooden structure is too small and dangerous, with limited space blocking passage for trucks and passengers. No action has been taken yet, but reports say the company may relocate the existing depot and build a fireproof passenger station nearby to improve service.

Farmland Value Boom Sparks County Assessment Rise
L J Wheeler, county assessor, reports a large gain in Lincoln county's assessment this year driven by rising farm property values. Land patents added little, while farm prices jumped, with valuations up roughly 13 to 3 percent across the county. Some areas see even higher figures, and Bear Lake county reportedly judges assessments at about half selling prices.
