Richfield Idaho sees massive irrigation dam and new water system
The Richfield area in Idaho advances a grand town building project. A 40,001 gallon water tank rises atop the town, a 110 foot tower crowns the skyline, and a complete water system is to be installed as weather permits. A planned electric plant along the Little Wood River near town aims for 300 horsepower, with initial power from a Hornby Akroyd engine of about 60 horsepower. The J. G. White company moves into a two story brick office housing engineering and land sales. The town expects rapid growth with new bank, store, hotel, and railroad improvements. The dam under construction will be 140 feet high, spanning the canyon, using sheet steel cores and concrete to control river flow, with material and equipment brought in for completion next year.
