Decline to Compromise Water Rights in Idaho Controversy

About 500 to 600 water users gathered at the Baugh Opera House to reject proposed compromise terms from the Idaho Irrigation Company. Attorney Frank James presented skeleton conditions aimed to bind settlers to five eighths of an inch duty, while Farmers' League Attorney Bissell and others argued against it. The meeting clarified the dispute over water duty, company contracts, and the planned Big Wood River Canal company amid ongoing efforts by the Farmers' Protective League to curb over selling of lands and protect water rights.
