Mothers Circle Entertainment at Casada Home

The Mothers Circle with husbands and invited guests met at Mr. and Mrs. Casada’s last Friday for a patriotic program. Mrs. Alpha Holt of Boise spoke on Food Conservation, Miss Lillian Turner played piano, Mrs. P. A. Pierce of Preston sang, and Miss Stella Cook discussed Thrift and War Gardens for School Children. A meal followed, and attendees praised the evening, hoping Mrs. Holt would return.

Red Cross extends membership drive for county report

The Red Cross membership drive is extended to next Monday evening to complete a county report. Lincoln county totals show 2119 members against a 990 goal, with Shoshone 685 North Shoshone 114 Dietrich 171 Richfield 135 Burns 22 Kimama 62 and the south half 950. North Shoshone leads with 114 memberships.

The sixth annual seed show for Ida ho will occur during Conference week January 14 to 19 at Idaho Falls. Lincoln county farmers show keen interest as they rise as producers of high grade seeds.

Obituary of Mrs. Hamilton of Bertin Heights Ohio

Mrs. Hamilton wife of John A Hamilton of Bertin Heights Ohio died Monday at the home of Rev J H Crow in Shoshone after bronchitis and asthma. She was sixty six years old and mother of Mrs J L Crow and Mr Huston. The remains were sent to Ohio for burial accompanied by her distressed family.

Wood River Center Grange Christmas Exercises Held

Christmas program shared by Grange members and local children at Grange Hall. The Grange supplied a tree candy fruit and invitations extended. Neighbors hosted holiday gatherings at several homes including the Bakers and Joneses. Red Cross work paused until Jan 2 with a plan for New Year open installation at the Grange Hall.

War Mothers Tea to Aid Soldiers in December

The War Mothers chapter invites relatives and supporters to a simple tea hosted to raise ten cents per person. Proceeds go to the Red Cross for soldiers' needs. Mrs. Yallen announces the next meeting for Monday December 21.

A Successful Year s Work Boys and Girls Clubs

Twenty two Lincoln County youth completed club projects and earned Achievement Pins through University Extension and federal cooperation. Darrel Rigney of Jerome won the state potato sweepstakes. Alia Campbell of Richfield led canning with six hundred quarts and county Garden Club champ. Joe Pavlik county corn champ. Orval McCorkle state fourth, county first in Pig Club. Nearly twenty dollars was earned by county youth. many names listed for Achievement Pins. emphasis on reports, stories and patriotic duty amid community celebration. A crowd gathered at the city library for a train waiting event with local youths from Halley Ganett Picabo Richfield and nearby neighborhoods.

Grazing allotments made for Sawtooth Forest range

Sawtooth National Forest officials and range users met at the Shoshone courthouse to review allotments for the coming season. Worth Lee was elected temporary chairman in Price Newman’s absence, with Ballantine as temporary secretary. Herb McPheturs presented forest conditions and capacity for last season. An advisory board will handle applications from unrepresented applicants. The gathering drew many southern Idaho workers and foresters, with attendees proceeding to Bolan for the State Sheepmen's Association meeting.

Soldiers thank Red Cross workers for comforts at depot

A grateful soldier told Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lundin at the depot that his company appreciated the Red Cross box supplies including warm clothing. The note also serves to counter a German claim that Red Cross items were sold to soldiers.

Christmas Tree Program at Methodist Church

Methodist Christmas service featured a finely decorated tree and a program of songs and recitations by children. Mrs Crow's class performed the farce Mr Santa Claus, followed by songs by two boys and two girls and two more recitations. After the gathering, children departed content with holiday cheer and belief in Santa Claus.
