Dr Zeller Moves to Jerome Shoshone to Jerome

Dr C F Zeller and Mrs Zeller relocate from Shoshone to Jerome gaining a prominent physician and active collaborator. He secures rooms on the second floor of the German building and plans a full modern office and surgical setup this week. William McMillan Killed in Action in World War I

Mrs Frank Clem mourns her youngest brother William McMillan killed in action October 1918. Born in Canada, he later became a U.S. citizen, enlisted at Newark New Jersey, trained in Camp McLelland Alabama, sailed for France January 1, 1918, and died at age 36. He leaves sisters and brothers in Shoshone Twin Falls Newark and Elkhorn among others.

Discharge Order Issued For Soldiers On Private Sickness or Family Distress

The War Department issued an order allowing discharge of soldiers in individual cases where sickness or family distress makes their presence necessary or urgent service is required elsewhere. Requests must go through the commanding officer and include an affidavit from disinterested persons proving necessity.

Christmas Spirit Cheerfully Brightens Shoshone Soldiers

In Shoshone, a community canteen committee organized two hundred Christmas stockings and a depot platform tree for soldiers passing trains. Santa Claus helped greet troops, and local volunteers funded gifts, while Mrs Wyett and Dr Zeller noted the wartime memories and Christmas joy.

Lieutenant Murry Home From Army Discharge

Lieutenant Maurice Murry has received his discharge and is at home to resume his personal business affairs at the point where Bill Hobenseller set them several months ago. He was stationed at Casio Pike Arkansas during service and enlisted from Dillon Montana, his former home, before coming to Shoshone a year ago to run his business prior to the call to serve.

Miss Stiger gave pupils of school district No 29 a pleasant surprise with Christmas treats. Families visited relatives, shared meals, and exchanged gifts. A German helmet from France arrived for viewing. many local residents spoke of knitting, yarn, and holiday greetings.
