Residence Rule Could Aid Minidoka Reclamation Settlers
Interior Department's ruling requires actual residence on homesteads even if water for irrigation is delivered late or not at all. The decision in the William Roberts case may favor Burley area settlers who missed first water payments, maintaining homes while awaiting irrigation rights. The order emphasizes adherence to the homestead law despite delayed water delivery and notes townships surveyed with new entry opportunities and holiday travel rates.
