Three counties out of one Lincoln County division mapped

The Journal publishes the first map of Lincoln County’s proposed division after the primary. Republicans and Democrats back a three county split with Shoshone remaining the Lincoln seat and Gooding and Rupert becoming seats of new counties. The western Gooding division is marked by a rugged boot like shape, while the Shoshone portion sits neatly within eighty lines. Each new county exceeds 575 square miles.

Skeleton of a man found near Blue Lakes Grade

Frank Tile and son discovered bones on a Snake River ledge about a quarter mile east of Blue Lakes Grade. A boy found a shoe and torn handkerchiefs with the bones identified as a man about 25 by Coroner Crosby. A reported female skeleton was not found.

Family Dispute Shared in Probate Court at Bliss

Judge Fuller heard a large family row in probate court with five principals and six witnesses testifying about grievances of Leonard Fowler against George Day and his wife and Levi Kellogg and Belle Kellogg from Boise working the Thorp ranch near Bliss. Fines of 10 dollars each were imposed but remitted upon payment of costs totaling 11040 dollars. Deputy Sheriff Chapman made the arrests.

Deadly flood blocks railroad near Huntington

After a 44 hour rain, a canyon slope five miles west of Huntington slid onto the tracks, blocking all through trains for two days. Four fatalities occurred as debris swept Bragg creek area into Burnt river dam, with Mrs Powell and three children missing. Rescue efforts continued for the children as trains resumed service Sunday morning.
