A compilation of Idaho district court actions includes jury verdicts and pleas. Greveant won 8250.00 from Orchard Investment Co. in one suit, with Bissell and Heist & Aubolee representing. A. L. Woodhuse pleaded guilty to destroying electric transmission lines and paid 400.00, covering county costs from power disputes at Malad. Several defendants had charges dismissed or cases held for briefs, while other actions saw a 3300.00 verdict plus 7 percent interest for damages in a different suit and bank litigation proceeding with pending briefs.

Ed Merrifield has been hired by the Shoshone Highway Commission to collect the district road poll tax. Every able bodied man is required to pay four dollars, and many react with reluctance at the levy.

Shoshone High School Baseball Schedule Preview

The Shoshone high school baseball team, led by Ernie Gwin and others, prepares for a pair of home games. On Saturday April 27 they host Gooding at the ball park at 1:00 PM, then Albion State Normal visits Wednesday May 1. Admission is 20 cents for Gooding and 35 cents for Albion.

Idaho Investor Murphy Buys Idaho Ranches For Future Farm

W H Murphy of Seattle arrived in the city and moved to acquire the Mrs Gaches and Smart ranches on the North Shoshone tract and adjoining property. He appointed Robt E Hewett to manage operations and has bought horses and equipment for the ranch. He also holds a Carey Act farm near the upper Harrah ranch with plans for over 100 acres of alfalfa this year.

Spotted Fever Claims a Victim

Jacob Reis a farmer living by Big Wood river near the Wallace ranch died at Dill hospital on Tuesday night from spotted fever. He was about 45, industrious and well liked. He had no local relatives. a sister in North Platte Nebraska is named as his nearest kin and is telegram notified. She plans to attend the burial in Shoshone.

The region sees revived business as electric power firms seek franchises across southern Idaho. A million dollar power house is planned at Asueritan Falls with an eight foot dam, while Bruneau plan covers 600000 acres with construction for a future irrigation. 100000 acres north of Minidoka may be irrigated via pumping plants in a Usrey Act project. New settlers arrive, dairy shipments from Wisconsin signal growing dairy industry, and orchard planting increases.
