Wreck on Main Line Near Brady Switch Kills Two

A westbound freight wreck on the 0. 8. L line near Brady switch killed engineer Bert Chapman and fireman W. D. Nichols, with brakeman H. A. McDaniels severely burned. Seven cars derailed and coal piled across the track blocked service for 24 hours while rescuers cleared the site and a hospital treated the injured.

Quick sheriff work led to arrests after the burglary of John Devanigneu Gooding home. Two Mexican suspects were brought to the county jail Wednesday, pled guilty before Judge Puller, and face sentencing before Judge Walters.

Barry Jarman Case Involving Adultery Sentences Reported

Owing to an oversight the Barry Jarman case was not reported initially. Garman alias Johnstone pleaded guilty to adultery and was sentenced to four months in county jail. Mrs. Bar received USL days in jail. The case stirred local attention after Jarman was arrested in Wendell following a tip received from Barry's daughter Dorothy.

Has New Head of Ricer at Hot Lake Sanatorium Oregon

Fred H. Gurney of Hot Lake Sanatorium visited town to promote the resort. He announced Walter M. Piece as new president and manager, with plans to invest over 30 000 in improvements including lawns shade trees and golf links. The medical staff is described as among the best in the northwest and the enterprise is reported to be expanding rapidly.

Result of School Election Quiet Trustees Hustle Voters

The school election held Sunday afternoon passed off quietly until trustees had to mobilize on the street to gather enough voters. Archie Bowler was reelected trustee. Trustees say district patrons neglect school affairs when not attending meetings.

Hailey Bank Case Nearing End as Court Works

The Hailey bank case moves toward closure with the district court hearing testimony through April 20. Leo Cramer, charged with receiving and depositing funds from Idaho State Bank of Hailey on August 31, 1910, faced 30 witnesses as prosecutors argued bank insolvency and falsified reports, while defense contends assets remained and a sale was planned to protect depositors. The county commissioners adjourned a two week session and discussed cash assessments amid tax policy concern, with a preliminary plan for a public 10 cent notice matinee for schoolchildren tomorrow afternoon.

Jealous lover kills woman then fails in suicide

In a cottage near Boise, Flora M. Rogers is shot by MOA. Spangler, a Boise newcomer. She dies on the bed. Spangler then shoots at himself but fails and swallows carbolic acid. Rogers’s body is sent to Haverhill, Mass. Spangler is wanted in Boise for forgery, with Richmond, Virginia as his home.

Second Annual Meeting of School Trustees Deliberates on Grants

The second annual meeting of the School Trustees of Lincoln County was held in Shoshone April 13 with County Superintendent Burnside presiding. The group discussed school district problems, including funding, marking reports, and the new school law becoming operative May 3. County Assessor Isensteiger spoke on association benefits, while talks focused on teacher pay and building concerns.
