Washington's birthday was pleasanty celebrated at the home of Mrs. C. R. Rynearson last Thursday afternoon by the Shirley Alpha Club. A short program featured piano solo, readings, songs, and a humorous reading about George Washington. Guests included Miss Duukle Mrs. Kennedy and her daughter and Mrs. Lambdin of Champaign Illinois. Mrs. H D Spangler will host the next meeting Thursday March 11.

Mrs McClure Dies At Spiceland Home
Mrs. A. H. McClure died at her daughter Mrs. Henry Foster's home in Spiceland on Friday at age 67 after a period of ill health. Funeral services were held at the house Sunday with burial in Spiceland. Surviving are her husband A. H. McClure of Shirley, sons E. G. McClure of Hillsboro Ohio and Wilber McClure of North Vernon, daughter Mrs. Henry Foster, and three grandchildren. Mrs. Henry Johnson and daughter of Kennard were in town on business Tuesday.

Butcher John Lisher Injured in Local Accident
John Lisher, a well known butcher, suffered a painful fall when a horse struck him near Maple Valley while he was leading the wagon for Jim Morris. He sustained a deep gash on the back of his head and facial bruises but the incident was not serious.

Water tower motor burns out cutting city supply
The city water system halted Tuesday as the motor for the water tower burned out. Water was reserved in the tank for fire protection while the motor was mailed to Indianapolis for repairs. It will take a few days before public supply is restored.

Fourth Operation for Homer Garriott in Wilkinson Clinic
