Ladies Attend Knoxville Telephone Meeting and View Rosary

Misses Lois Judkins and Bertha Hiatt attended a Monday telephone meeting at Knightstown exchange rooms. Mrs. Margaret Bernhardt of South Bend, sent by the Indiana Independent Telephone Association, spoke on operating matters. They and Miss Ruby McMahan stayed for the evening showing of The Rosary.

Benefit Concert Pleases Many at Local Church

Tuesday evening benefit concert at the Christian church raised funds for the west side school piano fund. Notable performers included Rushville lawyer Mr Miller and Mrs McDonald of Chicago, daughter of Rushville's Mr Spurrier, with Rushville pianist Miss Kitchen, a Conservatory of Music graduate and instructor. Sulphur Springs artists Miss Margaret Neff and Miss Irene Hoover joined with Miss Margaret Hoover and Miss Millicent Kern for readings and music.

Parents Day at Shirley School Exhibits and Performances

Nearly one hundred patrons and friends attended Parents Day at Shirley School to view year’s work displays. Pupils offered readings songs and piano solos while younger students performed exercises followed by a teachers’ discussion on interests of parents teachers and pupils.

The Ladies Aid of the M. E. church met at Mrs. Geo. Fourz home for their regular monthly gathering. A pleasant afternoon followed with refreshments of fruit salad with whipped cream served in orange cups cake and cocoa with marshmallow. Next weekly meeting set with Mrs. Martha Steffy.

Anderson Club Entertained at Mrs Goodwin's Home

Mrs Arthur Goodwin hosted the L L C Club of Anderson at her White and South streets home on Wednesday afternoon. Blue and white colors adorned the house as guests enjoyed flowers, a poem about Shirley A, and a two course lunch prepared by the hostess. Spencer Boy Returns to Run Local Soda Fountain

A young man from Jennings county returns after traveling in foreign parts and leases the soda fountain in the A. S. Houck drug store. He will operate it until he migrates again. He is still unmarried and considered fair game for eligible local women.
