Emery Oasey will hold a public sale at his farm 14 miles east of Surrey on February 38 1018. Readily available stock includes a large lot of trevecs cattle and hogs along with farm equipment.
The Shirley Commercial Club met at Star Theatre to consider locating an automobile factory with a 60 by 100 brick site and 15 dollars in cash from citizens. The club rejected the scheme, deeming fishing not good in Shirley and closing the matter while promising future town welfare efforts.
Mr and Mrs Jesse Conway who divorced earlier and fled with their two sons Tom and Jerry were reconciled remarried and reportedly living in New York. Friends disclosed post reconciliation news in Indianapolis noting the kids announce their parents remarriage and the return from the Christmas incident.
Rev Carl Van Winkle named permanent field secretary for Butler College in Indianapolis Star notice. A native of Henry County he previously served as pastor at several churches including Nameless Creek Shirley Markleville and Pendleton. He is described as a hustler expected to raise funds to support Butler College as enrollment grows.
The Sunshine Club met with Miss Olive Ware on Thursday evening January 21. Retha Thomas presented musical selections for the ladies. Attendees included Madams Lulu Reeves Edna McCray Pernie Reeves Bertha Blick Florence Bailey Maud Kuhn Edna Kerne Lula Williams Electa Reeves Annie Williams Bertha McKown and Retha Thomas. The next meeting will be a Halloween social at Mrs Maud Kuhn's on Friday night February 12.
Kennard farmer Jap Harry buys the Horace Wright 190 acre farm adjoining Greensboro for about 16000 dollars. He plans to move in March when his son in law takes over. Wright family recently moved to California and bought property at Whittier New Castle Daily Times.
J. W. McDaniel and wife arranged a surprise party for their son Travis on his nineteenth birthday Tuesday evening. Neighbors and friends attended and the gathering was described as a very pleasant occasion.

Protracted meeting began at Center Chapel Tuesday night. Will Nibarger and wife attended Walter Manlove's funeral at Wilkin son last Friday. Basil Keesling was at New Castle Saturday. George Ratcliff went home Sunday to see his children. K. W. Keesling and family visited Charley Pearson and family, Sunday. Will Goudy called in his neighbors and killed hogs Monday. America Bright spent part of last week with Evert Lockridge and wife. Web Keesling spent Friday evening with Lewis Creason and family. D. W. Keesling received a letter last week from Thomas J. Demond, of New Orleans, La., Tom wants 4 gallon of maple syrup.
J. Harlan will hold a public sale on his farm eight miles northwest of Shirley on Tuesday March 2 1915. Auctioneers Everett But ton and clerk Geo W. Sowerwine oversee horses cattle Chester White hogs farming utensils and related items.
A string of light anecdotes and rumors from town includes a playful dispute over who was the Ham in Hamilton, sleigh ride chill injuries to several residents, a possible Indianapolis visit by a girl nicknamed Jane, a trip to North Vernon, and tongue in cheek reflections on a cold morning, school officials, and a depot crowd at a game.
Mrs. T. B. Jackson leaves for Farmland to seek cancer treatment under Dr. Charles L. Botkin in a sanitarium he has fitted up there. The cancer is in the first stage with little current discomfort, but delay could worsen outcomes. She will be joined by her daughter Mrs. E. Pickering and either Laura Huston or Mrs. Pickering will stay with her throughout an expected eight week stay. Friends extend sympathy and wish for her early spring return fully recovered and able to enjoy the automobile.
Rev. Anderson preached to women Sunday afternoon as part of revival services at the M. E. church. About fifty to sixty ladies attended focusing on women and their role in church work. Guests from Wilkinson named Mesdames Julian Julian Price Paxton and Keesling attended.
The earlier report mischaracterized Mrs W B Baker's foot condition. The doctor removed spicular bones from a sore, not a cancerous growth, and she is feeling better now.
