Mrs. Presti Hosts S. L. Club Valentine Event
Mrs Presti hosted the S L Club at Illinois street on Tuesday February 15 with pink and white decorations and carnation accents for St Valentine. A musical program followed the business session featuring vocal and piano solos. Special guest Mrs P W Longfellow of Ponac Michigan attended. A two course luncheon was served by the hostess assisted by Mrs Jered br. The next meeting is set for March at Mrs Umbenhower s White street home with a program by Mrs M R McDaniel Chicago soprano Mrs James W Swihart Cincinnati contralto Miss Tencellum Nerk New York reader and Miss Jessie Kitchen Rushville pianist. Miss Crystal Harlan and Miss Clara Hamilton hosted guests from nearby towns. Students traveled to Indianapolis for theatre and a snowstorm followed. The school added a new boys eating room in the west hall with students supplying own meals. The Parents Teachers Association met Feb 5 and again on March 3 with a school exhibit planned. Grace Bowman hosted Five Hundred club with a luncheon and attendees including Ester Kirkpatrick and Lucile Shaw. James Vandenbark was guest of Lundy Welborn Saturday night.

Obituary of Elnora Coppock Gates Gates Gates
Elnora Leota Coppock born February 4 1861 in Jonesboro Indiana died February 9 1916 at Shirley Indiana aged 55 years 4 days. She married Hollis Hayworth and later Elmer Gates of Fairmount Indiana on June 12 1904. She moved to Shirley in 1908 and was a Birthright member of the Friends church. She leaves a husband a son Charles Hayworth a daughter Hazel Seehaas a stepdaughter Mary Gates seven brothers and one sister. She was devoted mother and neighbor and is mourned by many. Her family extends thanks for kindness and floral gifts.
