The Shirley Chautauqua will run from August 10 to August 15 with a six day lineup. The event features Chicago Orchestral Sextette readings and lectures, with a strong, balanced roster including Basanta C. Bonnarjee, Mae Gutherie Tangier, Frederic J. Baylis, and Dr. W H Bickers. The schedule includes new train service plans and a reorganized Shirley Chautauqua committee to boost institutional quality.

In Shirley the arrival of the Sheldon Glass Bottle Co. sparked job hopes that fizzled as many expected to be managers claimed a right to top posts. Workers quit, others took minor roles, and the town faced a push to deter vagrants and thieves by urging local business leaders to act.
Pink and White Club Holds April 8 Meeting in Welsh Home
Mrs Kayler and Mrs Welsh hosted a S Club gathering in the absence of Mrs Nangle who was called to Wellsburg W Va for family illness. Pink and white colors set the lunch, carnations displayed. The program featured Our Share read by Mrs Krider a current event by Mrs Presti and a vocal solo by Mrs Smith with Mrs Branson on piano. A pebble game followed with Mrs Branson drawing the prize tray and all drawing favors from under a cover. The group adjourned after a pleasant afternoon and will meet April 18 at Mrs Welsh's Main Street home.
