Bond Issue Looms In Shiner

Advocates of better roads in the Shiner precinct attended a highway meeting at the Opera House. Speakers from Hallettsville and Moulton explained bond issue details as residents filled the question box. A petition will be presented to Hallettsville’s Commissioners Court requesting a bond election likely in November.

Schaefer Herder Wedding in Flatonia September Ceremony

Elvera Augusta Herder and Quintin B. Schaefer wed Tuesday morning at the Flatonia Methodist Church with Rev Lambert officiating. The couple left for a brief honeymoon and plan to reside in Temple. The bride, a Baylor graduate and Shiner High alumna, is praised for intellect and talents. the groom, son of prominent Schulenburg citizens, holds an electrical engineering degree and manages a Temple X-Ray company branch. Guests delivered a generous array of gifts.

Guests praised the faculty's preparation and dedication as 42 tables plus fellowship created a festive scene. Otto Dreyer won high score and Frieda Rogge claimed booby prize amid refreshments of coffee cake and iced punch.
