Merchants plan a wide Bargain Day on the fourth Wednesday, September 28, urging shoppers to prepare in advance. The Gazette promises many bargains from Shiner merchants, anticipating a large crowd and noting real honest-to-goodness savings.
The Lutheran Ladies Aid held its regular monthly meeting at Dr Martin Luther Church led by Rev Pfenninger with Mrs Aug Schramm presiding. Visitors included Mrs Wilks von Lienan Bohnen kamp Anton Blohm and Mrs E F Buhnan. A piano duet entertained and an ice cream social was announced for September 30 on the church lawn.
The Public School Parent-Teachers Association held a regular meeting last Thursday. A chicken dinner on August 27 netted 48 dollars. Members welcomed new attendees Mesdames Herpert Siems, M. Wagner, Victor Treptow, DeWitt Nowlin, and J.
The regular St Ludmila’s P T A meeting opened with Mrs F M Wagner as new president urging cooperation and regular attendance. Minutes were approved, paint bills discussed, half paid to Temple Lumber and Garbade Lumber. Plans for a Sunday Nov 6 school fair were announced with new member welcomes and committee appointments.

Austin Texas Sept 12 The bill remitting the interest and penalties on delinquent taxes up to December 31 if paid by that date was signed and filed by Gov. Ross S Sterling Saturday It is in immediate effect The measure covers delinquent taxes due to the State counties school districts road districts and levee improvement districts It also remits delinquent taxes of cities and towns unless their governing body by affirmative action decrees otherwise This is the first of three subjects in Sterling's special session proclamation.

A man walking to town was struck by a car coming from Yoakum on a rural highway near Shiner. Frank E. Janecek died instantly from a broken neck and severe injuries after the bumper struck his legs and he was thrown to the concrete. Survived by a large family, he was a longtime constable. services were held at the Catholic church with Requiem High Mass and burial in the Catholic cemetery.
