Lutheran Ladies Aid Meets at Dr Martin Luther Church

The Lutheran Ladies Aid held its regular monthly meeting at Dr Martin Luther Church led by Rev Pfenninger with Mrs Aug Schramm presiding. Visitors included Mrs Wilks von Lienan Bohnen kamp Anton Blohm and Mrs E F Buhnan. A piano duet entertained and an ice cream social was announced for September 30 on the church lawn.

The convention adjourned at 6 30 p m amid a long ovation for Ma and Jim.

Austin Texas Sept 12 The bill remitting the interest and penalties on delinquent taxes up to December 31 if paid by that date was signed and filed by Gov. Ross S Sterling Saturday It is in immediate effect The measure covers delinquent taxes due to the State counties school districts road districts and levee improvement districts It also remits delinquent taxes of cities and towns unless their governing body by affirmative action decrees otherwise This is the first of three subjects in Sterling's special session proclamation.

Regrettable Accident Claims Life of Frank E. Janecek

A man walking to town was struck by a car coming from Yoakum on a rural highway near Shiner. Frank E. Janecek died instantly from a broken neck and severe injuries after the bumper struck his legs and he was thrown to the concrete. Survived by a large family, he was a longtime constable. services were held at the Catholic church with Requiem High Mass and burial in the Catholic cemetery.
