Shiner Comets End Season With Thrilling 14-13 Victory

The Shiner Comets clinched their 1950 season with a dramatic 14-13 win over Witting at Zander Field. Trailing 13-9 in the ninth, Shiner exploded for five runs as L Rivera delivered a clutch two RBI double, scoring Ullmann and Marcak to seal the comeback. The game featured strong hitting from both sides and notable performances from Rivera, Ullmann, and Marcak, with Witting’s Roznovsky and Kubicek also contributing multi hit efforts. Father Wagner praised the squad’s spirit and thanked fans and helpers for support.

Governor Shivers issued a proclamation placing nine Central Texas counties under emergency pink bollworm quarantine.
