Morning Party Honors Miss Maggie Thulemeyer

Miss Leonide Schuhmann hosted a morning party last Wednesday from 9 to 11 honoring guest Miss Maggie Thulemeyer of Flatonia. Christa Moeckel won first prize and a souvenir was given to Thulemeyer. sherbert and angel and devil cake refreshed attendees including Esther Dittmar, Marie Kasper, Nora Huebner, Mabel Merrem, and others.

Gazette Raises Subscriptions to $1.50 in October 1916

Recruits Sought For National Guard Visit to Shiner

Recruiting officer Capt. T. C. Harry, Texas Infantry, announces a recruitment party will visit Shiner soon to enlist National Guard volunteers. Friday afternoon September 8 at 3 30 the ladies of the Catholic church will serve tea. Admission 10 cents. A sale of contributed articles will accompany the tea. Public invited and patronage solicited. Funds to be given to new Catholic school.

Veranda Concert to Be Held at Thulemeyer Residence

The Methodist church ladies present a porch concert Tuesday night September 12 at 8 15 at the home of Mr and Mrs A Thulemeyer. Admission 20 cents for adults 15 cents for children. Refreshments served after the program at no extra charge.

At the Bluecher Park Verein annual meeting held last Sunday officers were elected for the coming year. D. Othold becomes President, Joe Kram Vice President, J. H. Huebner Secretary, E. Runk Treasurer, and August Schramm Frank Gerum and Fredr. Kram named Trustees.

Base Ball Sunday Shiner Beats Sweet Home 12 to 4

The Turek team of Shiner defeated Sweet Home 12 to 4 as Biz Runk quit and Lottie Mladenko finished umpiring. Eight pitchers used by Sweet Home and 4th inning strikes noted. Julius Seydler acted as base umpire amid a disputed second base call.
