A shooting last Saturday near Dryer wounded Louis Torres a young Mexican man severely if not fatally. The bullet entered about two inches above the heart and pierced the lung. Authorities say the cause is unknown and investigators are examining the case.

Green and Welhausen of the Yoakum State Bank have let the contract for a brick two story bank building on the corner of Grand Avenue and Lott street. The structure will occupy the entire corner lot and also house three store rooms on the ground floor. Bailey Mills of Victoria received the contract.
