Cotton receipts recorded by public weigher L M Roeder show 5181 bales weighed up to Tuesday night September 4. The same date last year accounted for 3336 bales, indicating increased activity.
Harry Boehl born August 20 1911 at El Campo Wharton county died in the early hours Friday at the local hospital after years of suffering from nervous attacks. He lived in Shiner except for treatment in Abilene. Funeral services Sunday at home then Weimar with burial in Masonic cemetery. Survived by three brothers Adolf Edmund Henry and three sisters Mrs Emil Behlen Miss Hertha and Miss Wilma Boehl. An infant sister Hilda died in Galveston and another sister Leona died four years ago. Pallbearers listed and many flowers at the graveside. The Gazette extends sympathy to the family. Also ad for One and one half ton Dodge truck with oak cab and grain body from Smith Motor Co Gonzales Texas.
Menger School opens Monday September 17 with Miss Vera Kasper as principal and Miss Alice Kasper as assistant. The event marks the start of the new academic year under district guidance and early staff appointments.

The high school remains closed this week for plastering painting and cement drying. Furniture from the old building has been revarnished. Reverend T. H. Crowder will lead both morning and evening services at the Methodist Church next Sunday. Public cordial invited to attend both services.

The Parent Teachers Association announces its regular meeting will be held Thursday next week on September 13 at New City Hall. Members are reminded to attend and participate in the listed agenda items.

Lord Waldemar Tieken of Gonzales assumed charge of the Schober Bakery confectionery grocery and cold drink stand on Monday after purchasing the business from Jno C. Schober. Miss Edna Sauer assists. Tieken is experienced and seeks patronage.

A dealer offers Ford roadsters and Tourings for 35 to 50 dollars each. The cars are described as in fair running condition. Paul Zacharias has recovered from a foot injury and jokes about picking cotton while traveling on his knees.
Mrs. Anna Valchar Tomasko died after typhoid fever at 9 08 Thursday morning in Moulton Texas She was born in Austria December 29 1868 and immigrated in 1870 Survived by four children William Frank Emil and Mary a granddaughter J C Tomasko and sister Agnes Flury Burial was in Moulton Catholic Cemetery with Rev Kostors and Rev Netardus officiating Pallbearers included Joe Mikulik Emil Darilek Edwin Knesek Frank Jilek Frank Koenig and O F Knape The Eagle extends sympathy to the bereaved and lists distant attendees from San Antonio Flatonia Shiner Houston Austin Yoakum and other nearby towns.
