Antiprohibitionists to Convene Dallas Meeting

Hon. J F Wolters, Texas anti prohibitionists chair, announced a Dallas meeting on November 28 at 11 30 am in the Southland Hotel to lay out preliminary plans. Committee members will receive formal notices and are expected to attend. No formal program has been set and deliberations may shape a general campaign plan.

County Court Opens in Halletsville Texas

County court for the Fall term convened in Halletsville on November 23 and will focus this week on probate matters. The jury docket is set for next Monday. Two defendants pleaded guilty to unlawfully carrying pistols and were fined 100 dollars each. three pleaded guilty to theft. Sam Brown pleaded guilty to swindling by false sample in cotton sale and paid restitution to avoid jail. Other similar cases are expected.

The Shiner Local Institute held its last meeting on Saturday November 14 with members O Schoenvogel T J Ponton Lizzie Kyle Mary Kavanagh Annie Kavanagh Dorothy Schattenburg and B Thornton in attendance Thirteen members belong to the institute but several were absent The secretary B Thornton urges readers to watch the Gazette for future dates and programs encouraging participation to benefit teaching.
