Voters backed Democratic candidates in California and New York indicating strong nationwide support for Roosevelt. Early returns show sweeping majorities in key districts, signaling a broad national trend for the party across coastlines.
Miss Marianna Davis presented Wayne Sewell's The Flapper Grandmother under the High School P T A. The production drew a capacity crowd with constant laughs and operetta like chorus effects. Shiner boasts strong amateur talent. receipts totaled 182.80 with a 50 share to the P T A.
Tomorrow Friday is Nov 11 Armistice Day and all Shiner business houses will be closed for the holiday. Citizens are urged to purchase supplies today as local firms observe the day.
Governor Miriam A Ferguson and James E Ferguson greet voters after Roosevelt and Garner win national victory. They congratulate the people of the United States on the democracy’s triumph as Texas returns Ferguson to the governorship following the election eve remarks in Austin.

John Nance Garner of Texas was elected vice president as victory was assured by 9 p m. The Republican party lines broke nationwide and Democrats swept Senate, Congress, and governorships. It marks the first time in 75 years that the President, Senate, and House are all of one party.
St Ludmila's Academy held a Sunday fair displaying a large classroom with posters on history geography health and fire safety plus a sand table of a Japanese village. The mothers room displayed quilts fancy work vegetables canned goods and cakes while another room featured elegant needlework by convent Sisters. Exhibits from fourth through eleventh grade filled a large class room including a quilt room with quilts made by each grade.
In Shiner West, Ferguson leads with 388 votes, Janszen for County Judge 322, Bullington 82, and R W Meitzen 12 written in. Overall total votes reported 439, with August primary tally 563.
Counts show Governor Ferguson 317 and Bullington 70 in East Box. County Judge Janszen 369, W. Meitzen 12, East Box total 425. August Primary total 570. West Box votes on amendment incomplete at press time. East box presided by Theo Rogge with a list of assistants and Leo Hubner supervisor.
