Bundles for Britain appeal seeks clothing donations

Celebratte Silver Wedding at Schneider Home

Over 60 guests gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Schneider to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Saturday November 2 1940. A white cake adorned with silver sat center table. Lunch was served around 10 o clock with cakes pies cookies sandwiches coffee and punch. The young folks danced while older guests played dominoes. Music by Ed Berger on accordion. Mrs John Dibala Dies Unexpectedly at 26

Mrs John Dibala died at Dufner’s Hospital at 2 30 am from uremic poisoning. She was a 26 year old Hallettsville born organist for the Senior Choir and active in Catholic and fraternal groups. Survived by husband, parents, four sisters, two brothers. Funeral in Hallettsville with Solemn Requiem High Mass and burial at Catholic Cemetery.

Cuero Turkey Trot Parade Promises Grand Festivities

Cuero boosters visited Shiner to promote the Cuero Turkey Trot, running November 9 to 11. Armistice Day parade on November 11 at 11 a.m. features 10,000 turkeys grooming the two mile float line. Harry Putman, publicity chair, says the parade should be the best yet with a full three day carnival. Herman Ochs of San Antonio headlines the Sunday program at Municipal Park at 2 p.m.

Mrs Sophie Mraz died Saturday at 5 p m in Jefferson Davis hospital Houston. Funeral held Monday at 9 a m from her son's home Ed Mraz Shiner Catholic Church rites by Rev Ed Bily. Couple Driving to San Antonio Narrowly Survive

Robert Mikus of Wharton and Stella Darilek of Moulton escaped serious harm five miles from San Antonio when a heavy lumber piece shattered the windshield of their car. The crash occurred as both cars, including one driven by Donna Ruffins of Seguin, collided after Ruffins pulled from a station. The lumber struck Darilek on the head but she was uninjured. The Mikus car swerved through a fence, through the fence again, and back onto the highway.

Calhoun Kopecky wedding at St Peter's Church

Dr Ina Moodie Calhoun and Dr Leon Kopecky were united in a 7 15 am Tuesday ceremony at St Peter's Church. Rev Albert Henkes officiated as palms and white santhemums decked the chapel. The bride wore a white faille gown with a square neckline and long sleeves, a Victorian illusion headpiece, and carried her mother's handkerchief with a cameo. Attendant Wilma Kinnamon wore a French blue dress and Juliet cap. Best man was Dr C L Kopecky. A breakfast at the Kopecky home followed, then the couple departed for New Orleans and plan to live at 311 Howard Street San Antonio.

Wm Roth moves into the Aulds former residence.
