Lavaca County to place two Centennial markers

Lavaca County officials, in a special Yoakum session, receive approval from the Centennial Commission of Control to install two granite highway markers with bronze plaques. The markers, four feet high and thirty inches wide, commemorate Petersburg’s old county seat and other historic sites as the statewide centennial effort progresses.

Will Rogers Memorial Offerings At First National Bank

Contributions for the Will Rogers Memorial Fund will be received at the First National Bank. Dr. E. Wendler German Consul of New Orleans and his wife visited Shiner with K. Spoetzl hosting a noon dinner last Thursday. Guests included Phil Lorfing, Captain Owens, Congressman Thompson, and local residents. An unexpected address was delivered at Shiner High School by Consul Wendler after dinner, sharing goodwill from German and American schoolchildren.
