Surprise Bridal Shower for Miss Marie Bozka

An army of friends gathered Monday around 8 p m at Miss Alma Canons home to toast Miss Marie Bozka before her July wedding. The surprise shower featured gifts and kewpie dolls in nurse and housewife outfits. Miss Bozka, popular in Shiner and Galveston, anticipated a Houston return Tuesday as her wedding plans advance.

Commencement Evening Dazzles Class of 1925 at Opera House

Friday night marked the white and gold class of 1925 as they graduated in a formal ceremony at the Opera House. Rev. Pfenninger gave the invocation, Miss Mae Blohm sang Come Where The Blue Bells Ring, and Rev. Jessie Yelvington delivered a magnetic address The orchestra under Miss Stella Wolters drew praise for Offenbachs Orpheus Overture and Kreisers Caprice Vennois. Daisy bouquets framed diplomas presented by Mrs. Ella E. Lane with Dorothy Jean Bohm as the living daisy bearer The Farewell Song closed the first mile of school life as the benediction concluded the event.

European travelers depart from Galveston aboard the Rio Bravo bound for Germany and Czechoslovakia, with Theo Dierksen and family among early passengers. XX Century Club Meets At Brieger Home May 21

The XX Century Club spent an afternoon at Mrs. Otto Brieger's home with a brief business session followed by 42 games. Guests included Mesdames T. J. City Election Voters Decide Fowls Run at Large Law

In the May 26, 1925 city election 128 votes favored prohibiting fowls from running at large while 91 opposed. F R Mergenthaler was presiding officer with J H Huebner and Aug Kaspar assisting. April turnout was 67 votes and trustee election attracted 48 votes, with many amusing incidents noted.
