May Festival draws crowd in local park

The May Feast at the park attracted a large regional crowd. Local residents report strong crop prospects with corn advancing well for a good yield this year. Visitors include Miss Lillie LaGrange and Mrs. Henry Krate as well as Miss Selma Kotzebue and others from Alleyton and Ellinger.

Home talent presented entertainment on Tuesday night to a modest but appreciative audience. The plays lacked plot but the performers improved quickly. curtain drops and long scene gaps stretched the show. It started at 9 15 and ended at 10 30 with gross receipts of 40 dollars and a post show dance with music.

Runaway Accident Injures Mr. Meyer Near Turkey Creek

Mr. Joe Meyer of Dreyer suffered a bad bruise to the leg after a wagon tongue bolt broke on a downhill pull from Shiner. The team ran away, the wagon struck a tree, and the vehicle ended at John Phillips's house with a damaged wheel and a broken spoke.

Silver Wedding Celebrated in Schulenburg Texas

The silver wedding of Mr. and Mrs. John Oltman drew a large turnout at Turner hall following a 4 PM ceremony at their home. The Frog society from LaGrange attended in force with visitors arriving from Flatonia Shiner Hallettsville Weimar Moravia and Houston. Guests received many valuable presents and the evening included an elegant supper and dancing until late.

A black leather bridle with snapped reins and a straight bar bit was stolen last Sunday from Win Sander. The bit is stamped FS5x28 and one side silver is broken. Buckles on the headstall are bent. A reward of 5 dollars is offered for the bridle and 10 dollars for the thief. WM. SANbek.

Special Excursion to Austin From Shiner and Montrop

The San Antonio and Aransas Pass plans a Sunday May 28 excursion to Austin via Giddings. Round trip fare is two dollars from Shiner and Montrop with a similar schedule to last year. Attractions await excursionists at the capital city and a large crowd is expected.
