Shiner approves a sewerage system contract with Municipal Engineering Company of Dallas at about 44000 dollars. Work to start June 1 and, if conditions allow, finish by August 1. A 25 cent water mains extension assessment will be paid by February 1 next year, funding the sewerage project. Local officials emphasize health and progress for the city.
Inspectors viewed the new English style residence of Postmaster and Mrs. Hugh Koether last Friday. Designed by Alois Kasper with exterior built by Kasper. interiors by the couple, featuring built in conveniences, ventilating system and tiled kitchen. The Koethers praised Shiner industry patronage including Garbade Lumber Co and decorators Tomasko and Koniakovsky. Wishing them lasting happiness in their new home.
To The Farmers. Car lots of cattle, sheep and hogs will be shipped Monday, June 3d. Anyone having anything to ship notify Leo Hubner, Frank Tasler Jr. or Herman Caka six days before shipping date. 25tf
Wolters Brothers Co offers a sale next Wednesday at 3 p m in the Dry Goods Department. Household necessities priced at 69 cents with values up to 1 50 and all must be bought in person during the gale. Remember the date and time May 22 at 3 p m.
The 13th annual Yoakum District Association of Ginners meeting will be held in Shiner on Tuesday June 1. Mr Trautwein will provide additional details next week. Shiner welcomes the session and promises proper hospitality for guests.
Miss Roxie Veree Buske named Duchess of Shiner during Youkum’s Tomato Tom Tom celebration on June 6th. The event highlights local pageantry with community crowds and festival activities.
A church picnic at Charlottenburg Church is scheduled for Monday May 20 starting at 2 PM. Ladies will serve lunch ice cream cold drinks and coffee. Everyone is welcome to attend for the church benefit.

Mrs Otto R Seims announced Michna school closed on May 10 after an annual picnic. Seims was re elected principal for a fifth year. Four attendance diplomas were awarded to Annie Malina Leonita Zimmerman Wilhemine Zimmerman and Emily Baros.
The parents of Kopecky school are summoned to a meeting at the school building on Sunday afternoon May 26 at 2 o clock. A J Migl serves as trustee for the notice.
Miss Winnie Probst of Yoakum accepts a temporary County Clerk position here She reports her sister Hulda Elaine has recently married Nelson Lynn Pownall of Parsons Kansas The couple reside at 1618 Broadway Parsons Mrs Pownall formerly served as a nurse at Huth Memorial Hospital Yoakum Hallettsville Herald
Edna Janssen, formerly of Shiner, tops Brackenridge High School with a 98.75 average. She outperformed 220 classmates on the quarter report, drawing praise from Shiner friends and her parents Mr and Mrs Ben Janssel in San Antonio.
Miss Lucile Schultz of Shiner High School Expression Department presents a pupils recital tonight at the TV Auditorium. The program is free to the public and all are invited to attend.
Shiner defeated Yoakum 2 to 1 in a high school diamond clash on a rainy Sunday. Yoakum Boosters arrived ready to play, and the spirited contest drew cheering spectators despite the showers.
Judge and Mrs. E. J. Motis and their daughter Mrs. C. Dobbs and clever little son visited in Yoakum last week and called on the Gazette. Judge Motis renewed their subscription during the visit.
The Baccalaureate Sermon will be delivered May 19 1929 at 8 P M in the City Auditorium. A processional invocation hymn and selections by the Giardini Choir and Mr J V Michna precede the sermon by Rev H M Ratliff. The service ends with the anthem Praise Be The Lord and benediction by Schoebel.

The P T A held a regular Thursday session in the school auditorium with Mrs Leslie directing the program. Reports from secretary and treasurer were favorably received. an auditing committee was appointed and annual report plans noted. New officers elected include Mrs Lillie Muecke as secretary and Mrs Adolf Valek as treasurer with Mrs Edgar Wolters continuing as president.
The Methodist Sunday School scholars and teachers traveled to Hallettsville on Saturday afternoon for an afternoon picnic. They joined the Hallettsville Sunday school for swimming and lunch at Moore's swimming pool.
