Mrs Roznovsky Laid To Rest After 1958 Funeral in Shiner

Mrs Frank Roznovsky aged 77 8 7 passed away May 8 1958 at her daughter’s home in Shiner Survived by five daughters two sons 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren Funeral services were held May 10 at Buffington Funeral Home and Shiner Catholic Church with Rosary the preceding evening Interment in Shiner Catholic Cemetery She was born September 1 1880 in Sweet Home and was a longtime Catholic and SPJST member. Her husband Frank died in 1935.

A new microwave radio relay system built by Southwestern Bell and AT&T Long Lines transmits television programs along seven towers from San Antonio to Houston. The line spans Bulverde Seguin Shiner Wei mar Cat Springs Katy and ends in Houston with line-of-sight between towers. The Morton triode vacuum tube and precise antennas enable multiple TV programs and telephone messages to travel at incredible speed despite weather.

Plans are underway for a large parade at the Shiner Legion's July 4th celebration. Businesses and individuals are invited to enter floats and those in Sunday's May Fest parade may also participate. No theme is required and entries will be accepted.

Vic Roznovsky led San Angelo Pirates with three hits in five plate appearances in a 10 to 7 win over Midland Braves on April 28. He hit a three base homer to center in the third and showed speed on a second inning single, driving in runs and setting the tone for the home opener.

Hermann Sons announce plans for the 1958 May Fest at Legion Park Shiner on Sunday May 18 featuring a 1:30 p.m. parade with 50 local entries plus regional entrants. A 4:00 p.m. Baby Cowboy Cowgirl contest awarding cash prizes and ribbons precedes Old Fiddlers. A 5:00 p.m. barbecue dinner, 75c gents 25c ladies, and a Queen’s Ball follow coronation at 8:00 p.m. Votes for a seven contest sold 1c each. 7:00 p.m. final count.

Fritz August Zacharias died May 10 1958 in Wagner Hospital at 7 15 p m aged 82 years 18 days He was born in Anhalddessau Germany April 22 1876 and immigrated to America in 1882 settling in Flatonia Moulton Yoakum and Shiner He married Annie East in 1900 and later Mrs Mary Hohlt He leaves wife Annie Zacharias Jr three children Mrs Ed Pundt Mrs Ella Story and Fritz Zacharias Jr four grandchildren and two sisters and three brothers The funeral was held May 12 at Buffington Funeral Home Shiner and at Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial in Shiner City Cemetery
