Three Corpus Christi aviator volunteers from the 99s paint a bright 10 foot SHINER sign on the Gazette building to aid navigation. The effort, ongoing since 1953 and supported by rummage proceeds, marks Shiner as the 160th Texas town identified from the air.

Lutheran Vacation Church School Opens May 25 at United Church
The Lutheran Vacation Church School begins Monday May 25 at 8 30 am at United Dr Martin Luther Church for two weeks with daily sessions 8 30 to 11 am for ages three through fourteen Parents are urged to register by May 17 and transportation is arranged if needed. The 1959 program titled We Belong To God aims to deepen biblical understanding and service among children and teens.

Born Robinson County North Carolina June 25 1868 to Alfred and Maranzy Bullard she lived in Dilworth 23 years then moved to Houston with daughter Mrs S E Vaughan now survived by daughter, sister, daughter in law, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son.
