The May 4 1912 Democratic Precinct Convention in Shiner elected A G Lichey permanent chairman and formed committees to select county dates. Delegates chosen include Pustejovsky Flato Dreyer Lichey Welhausen Rhumann Niemann Beneke Kopecky Williams Habermacher with alternates listed. Resolutions endorse Ben Harmon for presidential nomination and Colquitt and Wolters for state and federal offices.
At the April 9 meeting in the Shiner Opera House the 82 member group elected officers for a one year term. The club named The Shiner Civic Club to improve streets parks and public property and set monthly dues of 10 cents. Meetings will be on the second Friday, a constitution and bylaws will be adopted, and the secretary was directed to contact Hollands Magazine about a contest for the best kept town in Texas with a thousand inhabitants.
Dr J D Gray traveled to Chicago to buy an up to date hospital outfit and returned home last week.
