Members of the Yoakum Garden Gate Club prepare for the 18th annual Wild Flower Trail with a 1 30 p m opening Sunday April 3 1977 at the Yoakum Municipal Building 900 Irvin St. Guided tours via three 40 mile loops will showcase blooming wildflowers. Maps and club literature available through Mrs Emil Coldewey or Mrs Morris Fawcett and the Yoakum Chamber of Commerce.

Rotary Luncheon Review At Casa Fiesta

Shiner Rotary Club met at Casa Fiesta on Wednesday March 23 with President Gus Nollkamper presiding. Guest Ray Clements and visitors from Gonzales Yoakum and Edna attended along with KWBY’s Will Wallace. Chief Billy Moore Yoakum spoke on burglary prevention with locks bolts and a crime prevention film narrated by Raymond Burr.

He starred in Charley's Aunt Fireman Save My Child Gaslight Gaieties Plays Without Words and The Silent Theatre and also led mime troupe work and set model work earning superior ratings in San Antonio.

Old Timers Baseball Reunion inducts 65 into OTBA Hall of Fame

A large crowd gathered March 20 1977 at Blases Place between Shiner and Hallettsville for the OTBA reunion. Fifty five old-timers joined the Hall of Fame including late Percy Garbade and Joe Strauss of Shiner. Ben Marcak presented certificates to Strauss and Mrs. Percy Garbade. OTBA Chairman Bill Midkiff emphasized the honor for participation in baseball. Ernie Baker, founder, was remembered as a key figure. Music by Straus Pivo and crew followed the ceremony.

Cardinals Open District Play in Shiner

The St. Paul Cardinals host Victoria St. Joseph Flyers in the opening district baseball game Friday April 1 at 7 00 p m in Shiner.
