Firemen Delegates Elected At Annual Meeting
The Shiner Fire Department held its annual meeting to elect delegates for the state meeting in Waco in May. Company No 1 chose W. J. Tomasco as delegate and Jack Henkus as alternate, Hose Company J selected George C. Seydler as delegate with O. C Henkhaus as alternate, and Ladder Company Welhausen as delegate with Auge as alternate. Chief M. EF reported that elections were well made and all will attend.

German examinations offered at three Denton colleges
Examinations to be held March 15 and 16 offer six cash prizes totaling 150 dollars for German students at State Colleges of Denton College of Industrial Arts and North Texas State Normal. Prizes are 35, 25, and 15 dollars for each class, overseen by Mrs. Frank Heinisch. Participants include Belle Bates, Helen Franke, Margaret Malone, and others from Denton and surrounding cities.

Pythian Sisters Plan Offertory For Widows and Orphans Home
At the Rathbone Temple No 78 meeting it was decided to send a cash offering to the Pythian Widows and Orphans Home with April 6 set as the collection day. The order remembers the Pythian Home twice yearly and a committee led by Mesdames Wolters Blohm and Thulemeyer prepared the effort. The club outlined its meeting schedule and reported a $2000 fund-raising push for the library, plus details of members and officers across the group.

Funeral of Alex Goeth in Shiner
The burial of Alex Goeth occurred after an accidental death near Lockhart on March 2. Funeral services were held in Shiner on March 4 with Woodmen of the World and German Lutheran rites. Survived by wife, two children Ela Louise and Rodney, two brothers Ernst and Otto, and sister Mrs D G Helaers.
