Lavaca County One School in Interscholastic League

A. J. Robinson reports 605 schools in the League with 125 counties represented. Lavaca County has Hallettsville High School with Supt. M. K. Williams. County meetings begin with February 2027 in Three Rivers and continue March 5-6 and March 12-13 as Erath Leon Medina Blanco Red River Bell Jasper Milam Marion Travis Hopkins Karnes and Walker Counties select representatives for district contests.

Thirty Million Acres of Soil Surveyed

The annual report of the Bureau of Soils shows 29,984,000 acres surveyed in the fiscal year ending June 30 last. Detailed soil surveys were completed or begun in other areas.

Good Roads Prospect at Green's School House Meeting

A large crowd at Green's School House heard six speakers advocate road improvements and a $200,000 bond issue. Postmaster Herder warned against losing rural delivery routes without better roads, while officials described government funding and a 20 million annual free delivery. The gathering, split between Shiner travelers and local farmers, predicted a strong bond approval.

Theatre Party at Wolters Home Delights High School Girls

Last Friday Mrs. Eli Wolters hosted a cheerful informal theatre party for High school girls. Miss Christa Moechel was honored as a surprise guest. The group enjoyed snacks at home then at the Gem Theatre before returning to a cozy parlor for 1915 class mediums and tables that tapped and danced.

Death of Alex Goeth in automobile accident at Lockhart
