Shiner Old Timers to Meet Moulton in Saturday Clash

The Shiner Old Timers travel to Clipper Field for a 6:30 p.m. Saturday rematch against Moulton following a 4-0 win earlier. The 3 inning game precedes a key South Central Texas Amateur League matchup between Shiner Clippers and Moulton Rockets, with first place at stake. Admission is 1.00 for adults and 0.50 for pre high school children. Clipper Club members get half price.

Emil Kupatt Rites Held For 87 Year Old Port Lavaca Resident

Emil Fred Kupatt 87 died in a Port Lavaca nursing home after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. George Haynes officiating. Burial followed at Green Lawn Gardens. He was born Oct 8, 1887 in Washington County and lived in Port Lavaca since 1912. He was survived by three sons, four sisters, and two grandchildren.

City sales tax checks mailed to 800 towns and cities

Comptroller Bob Bullock sent 28.8 million in city sales tax rebates to more than 800 towns and cities in the third monthly round. He notes higher payments due to end of quarter filings and credits the shift to a monthly system for quicker access to funds. The June birthday party at TLH, hosted by the LCW of Shiner Lutheran Church, honored Mrs. Clotilda Jaks and Mrs. Julia Janak amid a full table of attendees. Diana Schroeder led a sing song with Velma Gehrels on organ, Pastor Sloop gave the grace, and cake sandwiches and coffee followed. Frank Spann WWII Veteran Dies Suddenly

Frank Spann lifelong Shiner resident died suddenly June 13 1975 at his home aged 57. He served in WWII with the 299th Engineer Battalion earned five Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. He is survived by his wife Rosie Spann four daughters two brothers two sisters and his mother in Shiner. Military graveside rites were held at Shiner Catholic Cemetery with the American Legion Post 201 assisting.

Mrs. S Michalec nee Annie Proschko of Shiner died June 19 1975 in Shiner Hospital at age 73 8 21. Burial at Shiner Catholic Cemetery followed a Mass at Saints Cyril and Methodius Church with Rev John Kohnke officiating. Funeral services were held at Buffington Chapel Shiner for Rudolph Bartosch 91 who died June 12 1975 at Trinity Lutheran Home Shiner. He was born March 9 1884 in Prada Fayette County and was a tinsmith. Survived by wife Anna Bartosch son Erwin Bartosch six grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and several stepfamily members. Lightning Sets Barn Afire Near Charlottenburg

Lightning struck a small barn on the Dennis Nollkamper place near Charlottenburg Saturday before noon, burning the barn and destroying about twenty five bales of hay and feed. Hallettsville fire units responded and controlled the blaze, with power outages in Charlottenburg Wied during the storm.

Free Immunization Clinic July 2
