Under a regulation signed by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue and approved by the Secretary of the Treasury, cotton harvested and ginned before June 1 1984 may be transported sold purchased or opened before July 1 1984 even without a tag. The extension for tagging old cotton was at the Agricultural Adjustment Administration's recommendation. Cotton is not subject to the Bankhead Act tax on the 1938 crop. bale tag applications for cotton produced before June 1 1934 are being prepared and will be sent to county agents in cotton counties within a week or ten days.
