Our family expresses heartfelt thanks to all who offered help and sympathy during the last illness and passing of our beloved daughter Kloisel. We especially thank the Catholic Church for its soothing words and support at her final resting.

Julius J Schulz and Eula Canon wed at Shiner on Wednesday at 8 p m in a small family ceremony at the bride’s parents home Rev Jeffries of the Shiner Baptist church officiated Attending were the couple’s immediate family including Roy Canon of here.
A birthday gathering at Rev Wm Dziewas home honored Rev Wm Dziewas and Aug Dziewas of Sublime, C Leitner of Shiner, and Hattie Spies of Breslau. Guests arrived at 2 pm and were entertained by the frauen Verein and Sunday school. Refreshments were served by Frauen Verein members.
Reverend Henry Jeffrey will fit his regular appointment at the Baptist church with morning and evening services planned for next Sunday.

Dr. J. D. Gray and Mrs. Gray left last Thursday for Detroit to attend the American Medical Association meeting. They will then proceed to Chicago for special lectures before visiting Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
The Rocky Site Park Association offers for lease on premises the cold drink confectionery and eating stand to the highest bidder. Bids sealed and mailed to J J Macha secretary by June 24 1916. Offers to be for each entertainment by the Association for a period of nine months. No. 40526.
In this week's Gazette the regular announcement column carries Henry S. Paulus for the office of County Judge of Lavaca County. Paulus is known in Lavaca County for his work as city attorney of Hallettsville and was named presidential elector at the San Antonio state convention. He is a young man with extensive experience and pledges full time to the duties if elected. He is a Democrat and anti prohibitionist, announcing subject to the July Democratic primaries and asking support from his friends.
Mr Wylie McNatt and Miss Fannie Pavlicek united in marriage at the bride’s parents home with Esquire J C Habermacher officiating The groom is son of James McNatt of the Awid section The couple receives best wishes for a long life of happiness from The Gazette
At the residence of Mr. Wm Stoeltje in Shiner, Sam Stoeltje and Ella Schmidt were married by Esquire J C Haber macher. The couple will reside on the groom's farm in Scharlottenburg and guests enjoyed refreshments after the ceremony. The Gazette offers congratulations.

On Saturday June 17 at 4 p m at the Fairgrounds Hon Walter Gresham of Galveston will address the voters of the 9th congressional district in favor of Hon Geo Fr Burgess. Burgess is busy in congress handling river appropriations and cannot be in Texas for thirty days but will be here to speak in person when he returns.
The first bale of the 1916 cotton season, the earliest on record, arrived in Houston Friday night from Lyford. Grown by R F Deyo, it weighs about 600 pounds and was consigned to William D Cleveland & Sons to be auctioned at 11 AM Saturday on the Houston Cotton Exchange floor.
