Dozer Digs Deep Skeletons Unearthed in Victoria
Skeletons of 24 humans, 16 adults and 8 children, were uncovered by E. J. Gerdes workers on a torn down downtown building site in Victoria. Three rows of graves lay three feet deep with heads eastward and no markers. University of Texas anthropology professor Dr. T. N. Campbell attributes the remains to local Indians from before the city’s founding 125 years ago.

Mental illness drains half of hospital beds say health officer
Dr. George W. Cox reports nearly 50 percent of hospital beds are filled by mental or nervous disorders. He cites organic causes such as general paralysis from syphilis, alcohol abuse, and poor living habits as preventable factors. He urges early treatment, better personal care, and childhood mental health training.
