Mrs Julian Breitkrentz Dies After Long Life Of Community Service

The death of Mrs. Julian Breitkrentz mourns a large family and circle of friends. Born June 17 1837 in Damienetz Germany she survived multiple marriages and a move to Michigan then Schulenburg and Lavaca County. Survived by six children twenty five grandchildren and two great grandchildren with two grandsons in France. Funeral services held June 2 at Rev Dziewas Voiced prayers and hymns It Is Well With My Soul and My Father. The procession proceeded to Charlottenburg for final rites.

Lieut Ned Hill of Bellville has received an honorable discharge after three years in England with the bombing squadron of Canadian Aviators. He joined a year before the United States entered the war and is now visiting his aunt Mrs W F Birkman.

Lockhart Texas May 30 due to differences among the trustees faculty and senior class the school exercises are called off for the year for the first time in years graduates will go to the superintendent to receive their diplomas which had been allowed but not publicly presented There were 27 students in the class and it is expected all will receive their diplomas.

Texas Rivers Surge No End In Sight

Over the past week the Brazos and Colorado rivers have overflowed their banks with a 21 foot rise reported on the Guadalupe at Dreyer. Some fields in the flats remain flooded as waters spread across lower river regions.
