Cortez case sent back on venue to Karnes county
In district court last Saturday Judge Abernethy granted a defense motion to return the Cortez case to Karnes county citing improper transfer to Goliad. The Karnes judge erred, as similar conditions existed there and Goliad lacked jurisdiction. Judge Thompson sent the case back, with orders to possibly again change venue at the next term.
