Sick List With Local Illnesses And Bee Stung Incident

SICK LIST reports J. H. Huebner suffered a paralytic stroke Saturday and remains in critical condition at home with a trained nurse. Mrs. Gerh. Siems has been ill at home for several days. Frank Panis, driving from the field, needed medical attention after a swarm of bees attacked him and his team, which were also stung. Mrs. E. J. Kutac of Worthing is in the local hospital. Arnold Bailey of Dilworth was operated on at the local hospital. Dismissed patients include Mrs. Ed. Steinacher Adolf Masek and Mrs. Ant. Kalisek.

Highway Right-of-Way Fencing Planned for 5.3 Miles

Authority orders fencing of the right-of-way for the new highway 200 from the Blume farm to the Precinct 3 border line about 5.3 miles away. Construction will begin as soon as fencing materials arrive.

United Dr Luther Church Services And Meetings

The United Dr Luther Church announces Sunday School at 9:00 a m and Divine Service at 10:00 a m in German plus 8:00 p m in English with Holy Communion. A monthly business meeting is set for Tuesday June 7 and Ladies Aid meets Wednesday June 8 in Dreyer. Reverend Richard Schuetze invites all to attend for lasting joy in faith.

Christian Science Lesson Readers June 5 Service

The subject of the weekly Christ Scientist Lesson Sermon is God the Only Cause and Creator to be read in all CS churches on Sunday June 5 at 11 am. Bird Luedecke Wedding at Local Lutheran Parsonage

A surprise wedding united Mr. Wm. E. Bird and Miss Edna Dolores Luedecke at nine fifteen Sunday morning with Rev. Schuetze officiating. Witnesses were Gilbert Luedecke and Laura Luedecke. The bride, daughter of Henry Luedecke, wore white and British tan with gardenia corsage. The groom, son of Mrs. Wade of San Diego, is connected with Bird Lime and Cement Co. in San Antonio. After a dinner at the bride's home, the couple left for Austin and will reside in San Antonio.

Baptist Notes All Church Social at Welhausen Dam

Last Wednesday night the Shiner Church held its first all church social at Welhausen Dam. About 55 attended with plenty of food and some mishaps including a plunge into the dam. Plans for future socials are already being discussed. The Old Ministers Relief program results were gratifying and a generous offering will be sent to headquarters. The Dreyer W M S will meet June 2 at Mrs. W S Moore’s home. Bro Charles Culpepper will speak June 26 at the morning service, the only time he will visit.

Obituary of John F. Pulkrabek Sr. of Yoakum and Shiner area

John F. Pulkrabek Sr., aged 73 years 11 months, died at his home on Hopkins Street at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday after years of illness. A longtime farmer in Shiner and Yoakum regions, he was noted for devotion to family and church. Requiem High Mass was held at St. Joseph Church, with services at his home and church, Monsignor Nedotarus of Shiner delivering a Czech tribute. Survived by his wife, four daughters, five sons, and numerous relatives. he was predeceased by son Anton in 1931. Pallbearers named.

Tom Tom Festival Plans Unveiled In Yoakum Gathering

Yoakum celebrates the Tom Tom festival with a three night two day program starting June 9. A motorcade and 60 piece Yoakum High School band visited The Gazette with leaders including Supt Baron welcoming attendees. Gov Allred and Hon Wm McCraw are slated to speak, with parades, dances, and contests scheduled across June 9 to 11. Shiner to join in festivities.

Shiner Farmers Seek Soil Conservation Plan Endorsed by 220 Farms

The Chamber of Commerce reports 123 landowners have signed to cooperate with soil conservation for the Lavaca River watershed. They represent 19,327 acres and 220 farms. Similar petitions are expected from Yoakum Halletts ville and Moulton as a united effort to secure the program.
